" Raba Kistner is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Drilling Operator to join our team in Beaumont, TX.
Responsible to operate direct-push and rotary drill rigs to collect soil and groundwater samples, operate Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) equipment, and oversee the planning and preparing of drill crews performing subsurface soil explorations for commercial, industrial, and transportation projects assigned to the Geotechnical Engineer Activity.
Perform maintenance and repair of transport vehicles, drill rigs, and tooling.
Manage the inventory of tooling, equipment, and routine supplies and materials needed to support the daily activities assigned to you.
Provide training, supervision, and instructional guidance to drilling assistants competencies as per the firms Quality Manual and Safety Guidelines of individual project assigned to the specific field crew(s), operation and maintenance of geotechnical exploration drill rigs and support vehicles, and prepare and perform preventive equipment maintenance.
Legibly collect and log field data to the specifications and/or job instructions provided Read and interpret topographic and geologic maps Recognize unusual ground conditions and immediately alert team of unanticipated conditions.
Attend to all details of assignments and complete work safely, properly, accurately, and thoroughly Responsible for safe, daily production and display a high level of effort and commitment towards completing goals Follow and adhere to applicable American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standards or jurisdictional requirements Follow field procedures, and verify accuracy and completeness of field results on a regular basis Submit completed reports via paper or electronic submission Inform manager of workload, overtime requirements, and status of current projects Keep up to date on best drilling practices and procedures.
Treat customers courteously and be responsive to their needs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications High school diploma or (General Education Development) GED preferred.
A minimum of one-year related drilling experience.
Possess a current valid state (Louisiana or Texas) issued driver's license and Class B CDL driver's license or ability to obtain Class B CDL within 90 days of employment and meet company's auto insurability requirements.
Able to drive short and long distances.
40-hour Hazmat Training (preferred).
Knowledge of Gulf Coast geology and surficial soils, principles and practices of conducting geotechnical investigations, and Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for Streets and Highways.
Experience with a variety of drilling methods and field tests/sampling (such as, but not limited to, Standard Penetration Tests, Shelby Tube Sampling, Texas Cone Penetration Tests, Field Vane, and Cone Penetration Tests).
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Ability to multitask and possess excellent, recording, organizational, and judgment skills.
Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc.
Ability to effectively communicate information both written and oral and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
