Mechanical Designer

*Job Overview* Create assembly and fabrication drawings *Duties and Responsibilities* · Create assembly and fabrication drawings per industry standards, specifications and electrical released production drawings.
· Create assembly, sheet metal, and bus fabrication drawings.
· Create mechanical bill of materials and log data in manufacturing data base.
· Maintain medium voltage mechanical engineering database.
· Maintain clean and safe work area.
· All duties assigned by your immediate supervisor and/or management.
· Responsible for understanding and executing Company goals and objectives while actively contributing to the cohesiveness of the team.
*Qualifications* · Education o Associate’s Degree (A.
S.
) or Certificate in Mechanical Drafting Technology or equivalent from two-year technical school or at least 5 years of drafting switchgear design experience.
o Non-degreed designers must have equivalent combination of education, training, and verifiable experience.
· Experience o Working experience in switchgear industry o Sheet metal/bus bar modeling and flat layout design.
o Creating and maintaining bill of materials (BOM), engineering revisions drafting, and other documentation to support engineering.
o Drafting standards (e.
g.
ANSI/ASME Y14.
4).
o Welding drafting detail drawings.
o Translating electronic documents between various formats (DWG, DXF, STP, PDF, ZIP, etc.
).
o Modeling sheet metal buildings/switchgear and producing assembly and fabrication drawings.
o Knowledge of best drafting practices.
o Knowledge of MRP/ERP systems bill of materials.
o Knowledge of machining/machine shop operations.
· Specialized knowledge o Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings and must be familiar with industry standards such as: IEEE, ANSI, UL, ASTM, IBC, CA Title 24, NEMA, MIL-STD, NEC, EUSERC, Service Utility Standard (ESR) and any other standards related to the design and manufacturing of switchgear systems.
· Skills o Extensive skills in 2D AutoCAD and Inventor.
o Microsoft Office applications o Excellent communication skills and be willing to work in a team environment while maintaining a very high level of organization, product quality, and cost control.
o Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
o Strong visualization skills.
o Strong mathematical skills.
o Strong computer skills.
o Ability to incorporate red-lines to original drawings from shop drawings as delegated.
o Excellent problem solving skills.

o Written and spoken English *Working Conditions* Temperature-controlled office with moderate noise level.
Occasional exposure to manufacturing area with dust, noise, moving machinery, and humidity.
