00 Position Type Staff Department Small Business Development Center Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function About the Role: The position of Center Coordinator is responsible for managing client intake and assessment processes, scheduling initial client meetings, overseeing program expenditures and records, and handling the marketing activities of the Center.
The coordinator will assist in both the planning and presentation of client training sessions.
The coordinator will be expected to oversee the daily routine of the office, answering phones and emails, and communicating with existing and prospective clients.
The coordinator will monitor client activity and report at staff meetings.
What You’ll Do – Position Duties: Coordinate the onboarding of new clients, including screening for eligibility, scheduling for new client orientation, assigning to an advisor, and ensuring that client has completed all necessary registration and preliminary work required prior to initial counseling session.
Coordinate SBDC marketing plan using approved social media platforms, emails, and other forms of communication to publicize offered training opportunities, SBDC services, and to enhance the SBDC brand in the local business community.
Direct and implement procedures for procurement of materials, supplies and capital equipment that expensed from grant accounts.
Perform initial review of grant reports, development and adjustment of budgets, coordination of budgeted funds, arranging travel accommodations.
Helps plan and facilitate training and seminars offered by the SBDC, overseeing room reservation, attendee registration, room setup and instructor needs, acquisition and distribution of training materials, creation and administration of class surveys, greeting and verifying attendance on day of training, and completion of required training packet.
Assist the SBDC Director for the preparation of monthly and semi-annual reports for the SBDC Texas Gulf Coast Region Office.
Works with both the Region Office and the Lamar University Sponsored Programs office to ensure Center accounts and indexes are accurate and current.
Ensures record-retention policies are carried out and as directed by the SBDC Director and acts as property manager for the SBDC.
Key Competencies: An ability to prioritize and manage multiple time-sensitive issues and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Excel and budget management for federal and non-federal sponsors.
General familiarity with social media platforms and creating posts to advertise the center and highlight training seminars being offered.
An ability to standardize center operations to improve efficiency.
Experience with budget preparation, fiscal management, knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
An ability to organize and schedule center activities and client meetings.
An understanding and strong interest in elevating customer service.
